Thirst, 140X36X3cā€m, printed and fused Glass, 2023

This image of dry and thirsty land was made by printing and fusing glass powder. the multiplied pieces joined together, created a horizon line of broken land, that relates to the idea of fracture, which keeps on growing and stretching towards the horizon, beyond sight. In this work I refer to both my longing, having relocated from my homeland, Israel, and to the multiple traumas I carry with me, as I relate the fractured soil to my body and my existence. Beyond my self-reflection, this piece also represents the fracture that is embedded within this small piece of land, that holds a history of territorial conflicts and wars. The fragility of the land echoes in the fragility of the thin glass. A broken land, all the way to the horizon, thirsty for water, hope, and redemption. This work talks to the tension between the hopes, dreams, and anticipation of the Jewish people for the promised land, after thousands of years in the diaspora, versus nowadays reality; Two nations, the descendants of two biblical brothers, are going through a bloody conflict. an endless circle of violence that tears the land apart, without any sight of resolution. what kind of future will this violence bring?
