The work 'Searching for soil' (2022) deals with the absence/sense of belonging. in this work, I combined embroidered roots with powder-printed text in Hebrew, my mother tongue. in the text, I shared my longings for Israel and my memories of the land and the landscape. the shape of roots, embedded in red thread, symbolizes the search for soil, and belonging, as well as veins and blood that symbolize life and blood ties. The holes in the glass hold the embroidery and the embroidered roots hold the glass, that’s very thin and has the potential to break. for me, these two materials complete each other with their contractionary character and the dialog created by this combination.
