Beyond my father's memory, to whom i dedicated this piece, I wanted to refer to the ideology and the values he believed in, that inspired my work. The Zionist ethos emphasized a great deal on agriculture and cultivating the land, reviving the historic relationship between the Jewish nation and the promised land after 2000 years in the diaspora. It was more than the act itself, of working the land, but rather of what it symbolized and represented. Being part of something greater than one’s self.

Israel’s establishment has been considered to be a miracle, a young nation that has rebuilt itself out of nothing. In this piece, I wanted to refer to these values and to the split within the Israeli society, that started in the 67 war, resulting in the occupation of the territories and a conflict that lasts till these days. My favorite technique is casting. Besides the enjoyment out of the process, I like the change of meaning that comes with the change of the material. I made the molds of the tractor on my father's tractor, Messy Fergusson 35. Our Tractor that used to cultivate the land, doesn't function anymore. It doesn't plow the soil, it doesn't make noise, it's suspended quietly from the ceiling like a ghost, present and absent at the same time.

like my dad, the values that he believed in are long gone. Only a pale shadow has been left out of them
